To celebrate National Clean Air Day (June 5, 2013) and Canadian Environment Week (June 2-7, 2013) the Prince George Air Improvement Roundtable (PGAIR) is holding two contests for residents of Prince George BC.

 

 

1) Clean Air Day Poster Contest, for kids aged 5-12 years

Poster Theme

Posters will be judged for creativity, originality, and how well the poster expresses the contest theme “Clean Air” and example actions individuals can take to protect outdoor air.

Contest Rules:

  1. Entry is open to children between the ages of 5 and 12 residing in Prince George, BC.  Contestants will be divided into two age categories for poster judging: 5-8 years and 9-12 years.
  2. The finished poster must be no larger than 11x17 inches.
  3. Only one entry per child will be allowed. Parents/sponsors are limited to verbal assistance only. All drawings must be an individual effort and be free-hand originals.
  4. The back of the poster must have the contestant’s name, age, address, and telephone number. Also include the name of the school and grade the contestant attends and his/her hobbies.  
  5. All entries must be received by or postmarked by June 7, 2013. All entries become the property of PGAIR once submitted and may be published by PGAIR. PGAIR will not disclose personal information collected to any organization.  PGAIR will contact the parent or legal guardian of the winning contestant to obtain permission prior to publishing the name of the winner.

Prize:

Two winners will each receive a $50 gift card for Pine Centre Mall, and their posters will be featured on the cover of the BC Ministry of Environment Annual Air Quality Report for the Prince George Airshed. Winners will also receive two free copies of the Annual Report. 

 

2) Community Champion for Clean Air Bicycle Contest

Tell us what you or someone you know does to benefit air quality in our community (500 word max.).  Complete the entry form including the summary along with the nominee’s name, age, address, phone number, and the nominator’s signature. Entries will be judged based on the nominee’s level of commitment, effort, and overall improvements they bring to the Prince George Airshed, and one nominee will be selected to win the bike prize.
